
An announcement of Elpida Memory, Inc. confirms that it will develop mobile 4 GB DRAM chips for smartphones. The Japanese company is the manufacturer of memory # 3 in the world and will use its Hiroshima plant to begin production of these new chips from large capacity memory. The company will also produce modules of memory in Taiwan to avoid shortages due to unforeseen natural disasters. According to the report, 4 GB chips will be land in the hands of major clients this summer and will be start in products at the retail in 2012. The market for this large capacity memory can generate 100 billion yen ($1.2 billion) of sales in 2012 - 2013.
Earlier this year, Samsung has announced that it was 4 GB DRAM memory for smartphones and tablets. The Korean manufacturing will use 512-pin technology that will deliver data transfer more rapid speed and use the energy consumption of 87% less that DRAM is currently located in mobile devices. Samsung will deliver its broad GB mobile DRAM module I/o starting in 2013.
