Call it the advantage own land if you must, but according to the latest comScore survey, Waterloo, Ontario, Research In Motion has planted a BlackBerry in the mitten paws dressed Canadian smartphone in 42% of the owners. Apple trails 31%, with Android to 12%, 6.4% Symbian and Windows phone/Mobile to 5.1%. On a comparative basis, the Canada smartphone penetration is in fact over the U.S., France, Germany and Japan to 32.8%.
comScore study also examines the mobile activities. in a month, 64.5% had sent a text message, 48.9 per cent had taken a photo and 40.6% used an app. Despite the BlackBerry, taking the lead in the common market, represents only an e-mail for 29.7% of the activity.
It is interesting to see the BlackBerry to take up a significant lead when just to the South of the border, Android is taking a similar number. His personal experience, I saw many of my friends get their first smartphone this year, and overall, it was almost all Android. I'll be curious to see how (or if) the comScore figures change in a quarter or two.
