Texas Instruments bringing 1080p 30 FPS Netflix for Android 2.3 gingerbread

Texas Instruments, announced today that they are the first to support 1080p, 30 frames per second Netflix streams for Android 2.3. Clearly Netflix is already available on Android, but it takes 720 p resolution in its current state, and it is pretty great news for those who want to watch these programs on their TV or other screens.

If you are not familiar with Netflix, it is a subscription service that allows you to stream, TV and movies on demand to your mobile device, computer or TV. He started as a postal service where you shipped DVDs to your subject as often you want, but obviously the overhead on this great expedition is enormous, from which the transition to digital. $ 8 Per month and more, it is hard to argue with the Netflix service, although the irreducible special performances may be reluctant to some visible holes. The most for me is the lack of stuff HBO, but license is a complicated dance, and I regret Netflix for their selection.

A large part of the process of certification for it with Netflix in issue security; they want to keep the digital rights management locked on their stable significant content to avoid piracy. It certification means that performances are protected at multiple levels, as over Wi - Fi, on the device against entrenched workaround solutions or malicious software, and HDMI output port.

Honeycomb would be obviously ideal for Netflix to 1080p and it strives to be certified in the coming months 2-3, with availability likely sometime in September. Other processor OMAP TI, ECL 4460 and 4470 will also soon be certified. My big question is, will this work with the BlackBerry manual? It is packing the OMAP 4430 and it will be finally able to run Android apps 2.3, therefore it goes without saying that RIM can certify their solitary tablet for this killer app. Of course, it would be better if they could convince Netflix for a dedicated version of QNX, but it is probably a hard sell for the moment.

This is good news all around, and the only step left before you begin to see that HD Netflix streams on mobile is the certification at the level of the manufacturer. It has already done a lot of the heavy lifting, those manufacturers already using the OMAP 4430 will be able to get the gears relatively quickly.
