It has been quite some time since we heard the rumour of pop up iPhone Nano but Bloomberg is stirring the pot again stating that Apple is designed to release an iPhone smaller and cheaper this summer to help him fight against the growing threat of Google's Android.
The report cites an anonymous source who saw the prototype "iPhone Nano" and he warned that these plans can still be tested case-insensitive, but company is looking out for $200 off-contract device.
Resembling an outrageously low number when you consider that $200 is the high-end, many smartphones price once a carrier it subsidizes about $300 or $400. IPhone Nano at this price tag might be a major game changer when considering that it would be too shocking to see this device to work on multiple GSM and CDMA carriers.
Apple is able to make iPod touch entry for $200 model, so it would be impossible not to get an iPhone Nano out at this price. In addition, society has been able to leave the iPad at $499 and competitors price label are still trying to which correspond almost one year later.
If iPhone Nano really hit the streets at that number, it will be because Apple fears that Google's Android too gains traction in investors. Android is on a ship from rocket to the Moon, when the market share and many believe that it will replace feature phones in many markets.
Interestingly, the report also said that Apple wants it to have a universal SIM which allows the user to switch between the carrier of their choice. Because it will be cheaper, this will allow Apple to exercise more influence its negotiations with the carriers.
Carriers will not be happy about it but and you can see accomplices independently decide not to support this feature.
If you have what this report? It kind of logic if you look at the rest of the portfolio of Apple, as it was usually a product at each price level (see iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, iPod touch and classic). Again, it is just a rumor, so take as such.
