AT & T officially announced that Samsung Captivate will receive the update Android 2.2 Froyo starting tomorrow, and to sweeten the deal, AT & T has confirmed that the HTC Aria tiny will receive also the update Froyo in the near future as well. It may have taken some time, but when it comes to obtain software updates on smartphones, better is worth late than never.
AT & T is not necessarily the best record to update their Android phones, but we have every reason to believe to be all changes this year. The carrier goes big with green small robot OS and this probably means that they will be more concentrated to keep happy customers. As for the Samsung Captivate and HTC Aria, both aircraft were released summer of last year (June and July), so it is high time, they gets some attention in the Department of the update. We know that custom skins can delay the availability of the latest updates for wireless handsets, but we also know that the carrier can play a large part to when updates are available. Anyway, we are just happy that at & t is ready to push update for phones at this stage, users are waiting for some time.
Froyo announced last may at Google I/o and some handset manufacturers are still struggling to develop the now-obsolete version of the operating system in handsets today. While we can expect the Captivate to obtain at least gingerbread at some point, the time is another story. It would be nice to see Samsung jump gingerbread and go directly to ice cream Sandwich, but saw that the way in which ice cream Sandwich has not yet even announced, might be longer than the wait for Froyo on Captivate and Aria.
HTC has a relatively good record when it comes to update their Android phones, but we will you wonder if the Aria can it that much more time. We are not exactly sure when to expect Froyo for Aria, but it may not be long now.
Froyo update availability was announced today on Facebook and a video with Dante AT & T Android project manager Martin gives a few details about the process that takes place when will be released a new version of Google's Android and how is it to the device. There is nothing, that we do not already know, and the explanation may be true, but probably does make users feel better about having exceeded software on their relatively new Android phone.
Is not much longer to wait, folks, so get ready have a preview of the Froyo. This is certainly good news, but there is there another product that has 24.
