According to CNET:

Pete Walsh, head of technology for the Cowboys, said his team and at least a "couple" others currently considering abandoning their rules in favor of iPads, a move that they feel could save as much as 5,000 pages of paper printed per game.

It's a lot of paper per game! Of course, the iPad will have need lots of cushioning and protection if it will be used on the harsh field and the margin. Can you imagine a tacle beyond high school and crushing one of these Apple tablets?

There is no word on just how soon a transition may take place, but could imagine that it could happen sooner or later. After all, the iPad adopted by other industries like the automotive area and the medical profession. Fairly quickly, the Apple tablet will also become commonplace in the schools, too.

If the NFL decides to seek the iPad as rules en masse, how long before other sports teams to do the same for various purposes? The Apple Tablet is certainly a dynamic and capable device, so it's just a matter of time before we see it in the hands of coaches everywhere in the world.
