Yahoo! Announces Livestand, a custom application Magazine for tablets

iPad Livestand 660x495 Yahoo! Announces Livestand, a Personalized Magazine App for Tablets

Yahoo! today announced an upcoming app for the iPad and Android Tablet called Livestand which will aim to provide a unified and content personalized in a style magazine sharp layout. Yahoo! has tons of properties to draw to deliver this content, such as Sports, news, finance, and Flickr, and they you reach advertisers and publishers to fill it much further. As you can see, you'll be able to read carefully the different categories of content and subscribe to custom strings or if you prefer, build channels based on keywords. The app is also time and location-aware, so you'll have content where you are and what time you are specific navigation.

This is an interesting idea, and they imply experience come to smartphones Finally, too. With groups like the daily, Wired and others a precedent for the style magazine on the shelves, Livestand content will find probably good company on the shelves and will be able to compete by pulling on a rapid stream of fresh online content. Unfortunately, it seems that these styles of applications are not done particularly well on iTunes, but perhaps Livestand will be able to see a bit more successful if they avoid charges or subscription and only advertising-based pay-per-issue and their existing online content stream offer free of charge from Livestand.

No launch date has been mentioned, but we will keep an eye on all ads.  Advertisers and publishers can strike up to the Livestand page.
