Texas Instruments will not leave NVIDIA all the glory, the company unveiled just TI OMAP processors 5 platform and it's high-end, dual-core chip with smartphones and tablets that can get up to 4 GHz.
The TI OMAP 5 will use two ARM Cortex A15 MPCores can earn up to 2 GHz per core. It is also claiming that the high range of 28-nanometer processor can provide up to three times the processing performance and five times the thrust of that existing competitors 3D graphics.
"The next decade will bring a revolution to mobile, computing, as devices continue to converge, try to become a unique device that meets all our computer entertainment and complex daily needs and interests." However, the true computer enablement drawbridge was missing until today. "5 OMAP platform will be at the heart of the conduct of the mobile computing revolution by providing the highest computing, graphics and multimedia performance possible in low power budget required by mobile form factors", said Remi El-Ouezzane, vice President, OMAP platform business unit, TI, in a prepared statement.
High range of TI OMAP processor will be also capable of supporting up to four cameras at a time, which may become more important that the 3D cameras as those on the slate of LG g become more frequent. The chip is capable of video playback 3D to HD 1080p, as well as real-time conversion of preform of 2D to 3D content.
While we are still waiting for TI OMAP 4 devices really market, but it's good to know that it has a great roadmap in place. Wait until the fifth version of this range on combined and compressed decision makers this year but devices land in 2012.
Also, the company sowed offshore two chips of Cortex-M4 and these are devices that need to reduce energy consumption but want to pack a punch.
