Its share of market may have succumbed to Android recently but iOS manages to eat up to 2% of total web traffic in the world according to Net Applications. Apple mobile operating system is exceeded only by Windows and its own Mac OSX for web traffic ranking overall.
According to the poll, Windows takes 89.7% of global web traffic, Mac 5.25% and iOS 2.07% to third place. Not bad for a mobile browser available on a small handful of devices! Android is declining in the sixth with just 0.49% of global web traffic, surprising given the ubiquity of the platform, but perhaps Android users are more accustomed to using applications versus surfing the web from right.
However, Android continues to grow, and with the presentation of today for Android 3.0 honeycomb and impressive tablets in the pipeline, these figures may soon change. The coming year is exciting for the mobile space.
